Remodeling a mobile home…

Matt and I wanted to live in the country on our own acreage since before we were married.  Because we were young college kids with no money, for fun we would drive out to the country, look around, and just dream.  Over the years we have tried to make the land purchase many times but the timing was never right.  However, in September of 2012 God blessed us with the ability to purchase 17 acres in an area that we had never planned on moving to.  We were married in 1998, so for us, this was a long time coming.  I had dreamed of building my dream home on our land.  I say “I had dreamed of building my dream home” because Matt would be fine with living in a cinder block home with a drain in the middle of the room for easy cleaning, however, I refuse to give in to that idea!  However, we both agreed that we wanted to move out on our land sooner than later for three reasons:  in order to enjoy it with our kids before they grew up and move out, move toward getting completely out of debt, and begin building our farm.  God heard our prayers and opened up an opportunity to purchase our neighbors’ mobile home and their 13 acres which butts up to our 17 acres.  Honestly, buying a used 2009 double wide mobile home was not my vision of my new dream home, but the more I prayed about it, the more excited I became and the more ideas began to flood my mind for how to remodel it to make it the beautiful home I’ve always wanted.  Now the fun really begins as we take this used manufactured home and turn it into something simple enough for Matt’s tastes and elegant enough for mine.  Please view post tagged as “Home” to view projects and progress on our home or click on the pictures below.
